Cheryl Cole puts new locks in to keep Ashley out
Cheryl Cole has had all the locks at her home changed following a huge row with her estranged husband Ashley which ended with him being locked out of their Surrey mansion.
The singer told the Chelsea and England star – from whom she split in February following allegations of a string of affairs – to move out of the £3.5million Surrey home. Then she called in a locksmith.
‘Cheryl plans to go to Los Angeles shortly and she doesn’t want Ashley in the house when she’s away,’ says a source.
She’s changed every lock in the house and even had the code for their state-of-the-art alarm system reset to stop him getting in.
‘Ashley tried to get back into the property, but hasn’t been able to. He is livid and they have had another big row about it. It’s all threatening to get very nasty.’
The source added: ‘Cheryl believes she should be able to live alone in the house because of Ashley’s cheating.
She blames him for the break-up of their marriage and has said he has to live with the repercussions of having cheated on her.’
The mansion, which has a five-a-side football pitch in its grounds, is certainly big enough for both to have their own living quarters – it has 12 bedrooms and there is even a separate house where 26-year-old Cheryl’s mother Joan lives.
But friends say the couple’s relationship is so strained they cannot bear to be near each other.
Ashley, 29, spent Easter with his mother in Essex and has been living with a friend in Fulham, West London.
‘Ashley wants to come home to sort his stuff out and get some things, and possibly live there while Cheryl’s away. But she won’t allow it,’ a friend said.
‘Ashley thought Cheryl had changed all the codes because of an attempted break-in by thieves, but he’s since discovered it was to keep him out. He’s definitely not happy.’
